"ODE TO THE BOW TIE" pLUS MORE KURZWEIL ART

A painting of husband Maurice's Great Grandfather;sporting a bow tie (Maurice's namesake)  sets on the mantel. I decided to copy it to fabric and make a wall hanging using some of my collection of bow ties. So here it is!

Our next to the youngest granddaughter,(the taller one here) has expressed several times that this is her favorite painting! So decided I would surprise her and take it to her when we visit next week while on vacation. She is in college at Bringham Young University, so I guess she will have to find a place for it in her apartment there! The painting was inspired by a picture I took in 2005 when Tyler and her younger sister Michail  came back from a walk decorated with  wildflower tiara's and bracelets!

This is the latest painting to add to the Kurzweils display.

MOVING DAY! + MUSIC AT GOLDEN YEARS & NEW VINTAGE DOILY AND SLIP QUILT!

All our grandkids have gone now! Bittersweet! We are enjoying a quiet house again though! We will get to see their new location in a couple of weeks when we go on vacation!

The start of my "New" Vintage Doily & Slip Quilt!

Put together 35  7" blocks sort of Log Cabin style.

Ready to sew the polka dot sash around the outside then, batting and black cloth backing brought around for binding too. On this binding I attached the lace.

Then embellish time. Used lace appliques and trims from old slips from the grand kids dress-up box (which they out grew many years ago)!

And more select pieces from my lace box.

This lace applique is in the center of the little cozy quilt.

Well here it is all pinned down ready to hand sew! This little 34" X 46" Lap Quilt will be a nice cozy addition to my cottage, especially now that I have it back again!

STORY QUILT READY FOR THE TRIP. DAVEY'S BACK! and WILDFLOWERS

Ready for the hand sewing while on our vacation.

"YEAH DAVEY" Our grandson is back for a visit!

Grandpa had to measure! He has grown 4" in one year! 5'8"!  Eli was seeing how he measured up!

Grandpa's using is accurate professional tools there!  Precious Eli measured  3'3" He has grown 5 3/4" since June last year.

A "High Five" there for the Birthday Boys! Son Paul 57 and his Grandson Eli 3!

Paw Paw wiped off a little frosting to create this masterpiece!

Still creating " Lap Throws"  and " Cuddle Blankets" ay "Chat & Sew".

Such sweet little things! They surely must be loved!

Isn't this a fun bright one! For a boy I think, although the girls would probably like it too!

We are given left over pieces of fabric and we combine with other pieces to come up with some neat quilts I think!

I design the quilts, can you tell?  My love of bright colors shows thru!

 Shopping for $.97 Fat Quarters at Walmart is as much fun  as I remember  picking out Penny Candy being!

After another couple of night stays at Comfort Inn I decided to write a poem and paint a picture and send it them to express our gratitude.

I was delighted to get an e-mail back expressing there kind thoughts and saying they had posted it in the break room for all their employees to see an had sent a copy on to the corporate office. Will be neat to see if I hear back from them too!

This month my friend Hope and I showed the resident as the local Health Care Facility how to make Fluffy Barn Owls. They really enjoyed the project!

"Wildflower Memories" was sold in a silent auction last night at the Cass Regional Medical Center Foundations Fundraiser.

 I was pleased with its location and  it's sale price!
