CHEMO BREAK TIME AS WELL AS WORK TIME!

Menorah Hospital in K.C.,Mo. has a beautiful Arboretum!   Husband Maurice takes his Chem in an attached Medical Building, so I enjoy an after lunch break in this beautiful garden!

The butterfly's love  the "Butterfly Bushes" I've not had any luck growing them!

I spotted a couple of birds eating the hawthorn berries, but they flew away as I took the picture!

I walked across this bridge to go to the Waterfall. It was a lovely lovely sight!

I'm working on my little hexagons for "The Chemo Quilt". I'm in the same room with husband Maurice. We're there about 7 hrs. the first day and 4hrs the second.

Here's Maurice getting hooked up for another Chemo session. He  lays back in a recliner and sleeps most of the time!

This is one of the residents in the nursing home where we go once a month to share music. He is my inspiration for next years Santa!  He is a perfect one! He has played Santa for years but sometime before he came into the home he said they told him he was too old to play Santa! He said he told them "Santa is Forever"! I love this! I'm going to make a couple of boards with his face and that quote  on them this fall. Of course one will be for him!

DAVEY CORNER / HOSPITAL FUND RAISER FUN

Youngest grandson "Davey Corner" The little stool I made for him when he was just a little guy. I painted his little red boots and cowboy hat on it. so glad I did because the boots were suppose to come to grandma, but they got away! The black boots were favorites of years later. The painting on the wall is of Davey's treehouse  built  by grandpa for his 5th Birthday.

TRANSPLANTING TIME!

Transplanted zinnias in the cottage garden. I pick my dried flower heads every year and replant out in the big garden then I transplant some of  them here and there and share plants with my friends. They are always pretty!  Some times I'll add a new package of two to the mix!

My backyard s so pretty I just had to share it! as you can see, I love blue bottles!

And I do have a real Flower Bed with flowers that are always blooming!

My new Coreopsis fill the wheel barrel this year thanks to friend Neita!

My Beta Sigma Phi group went to a play at the next town in which our sister Linda had a lead part.She was really good and the play was very enjoyable1

Generation Gap? My son Paul and Tracee in their home along with husband Maurice. If I hadn't been taking the picture I would have been looking at a magazine or working on handwork.

TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

This is my first childhood home as it looks now. When I lived there in the 40's it was brown , and the porch was not closed in. It had a big Snowball bush on one side and a lilac on the other. I started to kindergarten while we lived here.

Our Home Church "Benton Blvd. Baptist Church" at 25th & Benton Blvd. as it is now.  In the 40's and 50's it seemed so much larger! The church congregation moved several times and is now called Longview Baptist and is located in Lee's Summit, Mo.

Husband Maurice and I were both active young people in the church. We  were married here Aug. 26, 1955 on a very warm Friday evening in a overflowing church with big floor fans working overtime!  This Aug will be our 58th Wedding Anniversary!

Side view. Young people used the blue doors mostly. Have a picture of the youth on the steps here in the 50's! The Vacation Bible School Parades would start  on this side of the building and tour and walk around  the neighborhoods

NEW RESIDENTS IN PRECIOUS COTTAGE

Granddaughter Jackie and Great grandson Eli are living in the Cottage while she finishes her Internship. She will graduate in September with her degree in  Medical Technician and X-Ray Assistant.

It's fun to have Eli around a little more! He went with us to Golden Years Health Care where we share music with the residents. He liked helping Grandpa play! Poor Grandma always takes the pictures, but she was there too!

Of course we had to eat afterwards!

PRECIOUS COTTAGE FLOWER GARDEN

Iris, Phlox and Columbine are the second blooming of flowers that fill the little walled garden. The first group are crocus, grape hyacinths, pinks and pansies.

The fragrance is delightful!

To the side and closer to the road is the Pet Cemetery. as you can see it needs some weeding!

Before long the Bradford Pears will be blooming too, which will brings the bees! Haven't put ferns in the hanging baskets yet!

Th Ivy is starting to cover the side again. I lost  the whole works one year as you can see the old vines.

My flocks of pink Flamingos (Yeah 50's!) are back again around the birdbath in front of the barn to the side of the cottage.

Thought I'd share  some handwork  I did as a surprise for a friend recently.

I made a collection of my small prints into book form.
